It is sad to think that our last performance was back in February and that since then we have had to cancel two programmes and put all our activity on hold. However, we have kept going through the autumn with members of the choir singing together again, albeit masked, socially distanced and very well wrapped up, in Langham Community Hall (a Covid compliant venue) with all the doors and windows wide open! We’ve enjoyed revisiting old favourites, including some seasonal pieces, but also explored new repertoire which we hope we can share with you soon.
We have also started to make plans to perform again in the summer, with a series of a cappella recitals, to be followed up later in the year with a much more ambitious concert of sumptuous, grand, French Baroque music from the time of Louis XIV – with soloists and orchestra. This will be a concert you shouldn’t miss and will hopefully signal the return to more confident music making for both us and our audiences.
Happy Christmas and best wishes for brighter New Year from all of us at Colchester Chamber Choir.
Watch our performance of the ‘Rachmaninoff Vespers’ in the Cathedral of St John the Baptist, Norwich, from last October.
If you were able to be there you may like to revisit the occasion and if you weren’t, we do hope you will enjoy this live performance recording. You must imagine the cathedral in complete darkness apart from a few candles and the light from the choir’s music stands. It was a very special occasion for us and we hope you will enjoy the performance.
